NIH abandons grant cap scheme, replaces with new fund for younger scientists
The NIH is scrapping its grant support index (GSI), which would have capped funding for some individuals in order to support more investigators overall. Instead, the agency will eventually devote $1 billion per year to funding proposals from early- and midcareer investigators.
