Martynas Yčas: The “Archivist” of the RNA Tie Club
We know a great deal about the role of Brenner, Crick, Jacob, and Nirenberg in the identification of mRNA and deciphering the genetic code, but many others played important supporting parts. One of these is a little-known scientist, Martynas Yčas, who appears in histories, generally without explanation, as the “archivist of the RNA Tie Club.”

FASEB thanks NIH for addressing sexual harassment and urges agency to address privacy concerns
On March 4, FASEB issued a letter to NIH leadership regarding their February 28 announcement, which offered updates on how the agency is working to address sexual harassment. While FASEB offered appreciation for NIH’s efforts, it also raised concerns about the privacy of information shared via the newly established GranteeHarassment@od.nih.gov email address.

US researchers advocate for sustained budget increases for federal research agencies
Thank you to Mete Civelek (University of Virginia), Olivia Sabik (University of Virginia), and Lacy Barton (New York University), who represented GSA at FASEB's Capitol Hill Day. Biological and biomedical researchers from across the country visited Capitol Hill on March 7, asking lawmakers and their staff to increase budgets for science funding agencies.
